Should we call the bluff on the bankruptcy bailout?
Are those Bush appointees, Paulson, Bernanke, trying to scare us with unmentionable tales of economic collapse if we don’t act immediately with a blank check many times larger than what has already been spent in Iraq, and with no end in sight to the extent of economic rot.
It reminds me of the dire warnings we heard about chemical weapons, yellow cake uranium and mushroom clouds.
Now we are being ased to give them a blank check to do with as they please, in the short time Bush has left in office.
Why not call their bluff? Let AIG go bankrupt! Why should I care? That would be a good way to clear the money-changers from their high seats in government.
I say let the chips fall where they may and let the next president fix things. What do you say?
I agree wholeheartedly. All of us have been inundated daily about the “evils of socialism” and here we are engaging in the most heinous example of “redistributing wealth” that could possibly be imagined. Giving our tax dollars – as bad as things are right now — to the richest people in the country????
Insanity, I say.
Where are all the defenders of the “free market?”
Where are all the advocates of capitalism?
The ONLY people who will benefit from a mass infusion of $700 BILLION to ONE TRILLION taxpayer dollars are the very CEOs, financial directors, directors who made all those BAD decisions.
The free market – if that is indeed what we have – dictates that those exact people who PUT Wall Street in the predicament it’s currently in — should be held accountable.
